Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox does not remember the column width that you set. Upon restart, all the columns in it goes back to some default width. This is annoying because I like to see the file location, which needs lots of space, so I make most of the other columns narrower. But every time I restart rhythmbox, I have to do this all over again.

This bug has been around for a long time. I'm using Rhythmbox 0.12.8 on Ubuntu 10.04.1 (32bit).

Is this still an issue in either 12.04 or 12.10, both of which are using Gnome 3.0?

Does anyone know if the tab widget that Rhythmbox uses has any in-built mechanism for remembering its own dimensions, or will this have to be written out to a settings file somewhere?

Comment from the developer:

"If you're really conservative about how you apply the stored column
widths, it might not be too difficult to get this working. I'm scared
of making GtkTreeView angry so I haven't really tried working on this."
