Bug Description
Dear developers,
There is a bug that is very annoying and It makes adding new files very cumbersome and makes it very easy to pollute the database with duplicate records.
Version: Referencer 1.2.1 on 32 bit Ubuntu 14.04
To reproduce:
make a library
make a folder "test" containing "test.pdf"
click Documents -> Add Folder -> test
now test.pdf is imported
change the "Key" of test.pdf
click Documents -> Add Folder -> test
now we have a duplicate entry for test
The duplicate entry resolution checks only for the "Key" attribute and does not consider the title, author, ... Title would be a more sensible choice, since the user can modify the Key as he wishes. A workaround is not to change the Key. Ever. But this is inconvenient since there is no way to configure Referencer on how to generate these keys.
The resolution of this bug is very important to me, so I would appreciate if you told me in case you do not plan to fix it in the near future. In that case I could try to fix it myself.
I apologize, my post is false. The adding of a new folder does not work as I thought. I found out that with most documents there is no problem, my mistake.
For example:
1. Make folder "test"
2. Place attached document into folder
3. Create new library
4. Documents -> Add Folder -> test
5. 1 file gets imported. Paste the following bibtex as the attribute of the file:
@article{ Locatelli201416 9, dx.doi. org/10. 1016/j. cor.2013. 09.010", www.sciencedire ct.com/ science/ article/ pii/S0305054813 002724",
title = "Differential evolution methods based on local searches ",
journal = "Computers & Operations Research ",
volume = "43",
number = "0",
pages = "169 - 180",
year = "2014",
note = "",
issn = "0305-0548",
doi = "http://
url = "http://
author = "Marco Locatelli and Mirko Maischberger and Fabio Schoen",
keywords = "Global optimization",
keywords = "Population-based methods",
keywords = "Memetic algorithms",
keywords = "Disk and sphere packing "
}
6. Documents -> Add Folder -> test
7. Now the file is added 2 times.
I have no idea why is this so, but it is definitely not the problem that I described.
