First time playing of a song in rhythmbox resets the colour temperature for a few seconds

Bug Description
I'm running ubuntu 13.10 with rhythmbox 2.99.1 and redshift 1.7.
After booting into ubuntu redshift starts automatically. Then, when I start playing a song in rhythmbox, the colour temperature reverts to the standard. After a maybe two seconds redshift corrects the colour temperature again. This only happens with the first song I play.
I have no idea if this is a bug in redshift, rhythmbox or something else (unity?).
I'm willing to provide more information, but I don't know what would be helpful.
