Vidmode will not work on macbook pro setup

Bug Description
In addition to a windows partition and a mac partition, I'm also booting Ubuntu.
X11 runs great on my setup (with heavy tweaking).
Redshift reports Randr doesn't work and shifts to vidmode. I executed redshift then as verbose and saw that the transition was indeed logged, yet no actual transition visible.
Should I post my X11 configuration file, X11 logs, and or verbose report?
Sorry If I am mistaken if X11 does not handle this.

Can you use xgamma to adjust your monitors gamma correction?
