Hello,
Are you running GNOME desktop with and ordinary gnome-panel (toolbar panel)?

The /.../rec-applet.post* scripts seem to fail if you try to install or remove the application in KDE (or any other desktop) that DOES NOT have the gnome-panel running. The post-installation and post-removal scripts try to reload the "gnome-panel". If this is not present then the installation or uninstallation will fail.

Rec-applet installs & works only in GNOME with ordinary gnome-panel.

BTW: rec-applet (and applets as is!) will very soon be history. A new improved version will take its place.
The new name is "audio-recorder". Take a look at this picture: http://bildr.no/view/791855 (preliminary version).
