The Pi Zero (HW V1.2) does not launch the Chromium-Browser application. This same hardware can launch Midori. The OS version is Jessie, and was updated within the last week.

It has nothing to do with the Pi Zero (it applies to all Pi versions), but chromium doesn't (seem to) support armhf.

I recently installed chromium-browser (indirectly) from Ubuntu.

I followed these steps:

I'd very much like to have chromium installable on a raspberry pi.

Debian kicked chromium out of armel and armhf due to a crash on startup that noone was able to track down and fix (suspected but not proven to be toolchain related). It didn't help that chromium is a nightmarishly big package and was/is barely able to build on arm without running out of address space. We kept the last working version around in raspbian wheezy but not for jessie (I don't recall exactly why I removed it from jessie but I think it was having problems with libraries).

If someone wants to see chromium back in raspbian they first need to work with the Debian chromium maintainers get it back in Debian armhf, then they need to work out what if any changes on top of that are needed for a raspbian build.

Changed in raspbian:
