"gcc: internal compiler error: Killed (program cc1)"
Every time I've seen that message the cause has been that the system ran out of memory and triggered the OOM killer. Please add more swap and try again

I've suggested to Debian that a more helpful error message would be useful but I suspect it would be nontrivial to implement. https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=704999.

was killed by the OOM killer"

Does this mean that the kernel killed it? Could the OOM killer notify the user that it acted?

Yes the OOM killer is part of the kernel.

I think it's logged in the dmesg output but i'm not positive.

While this bug is marked 'Incomplete' it apparently isn't marked for expiration.
Maybe it needs to be triggered again?

Who is able to trigger it?

Maybe the expiration isn't triggered because there's an 'outside' bug linked, which has been closed by removing gcc 4.6 from the archives which means it won't be fixed.
I'll leave closing and/or removing the link to peter green though (or otherwise deal with this bug).
