Bug Description

Hi

I am using the Rename By Image Date function, which, in most cases, successfully detects Date Take from the meta data, and converts it to my specified date format. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for some of my photos from some earlier camera models, that I have on file. I'd like to rename them, reliably, as well. Example:

Date Taken 11/12/2008 7:53PM converts to 67491008-163122 with YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS settings. Some thoughts that I had myself:

Some of them seem to have been edited by Photoshop, however, I don't see any meta data issues. Original date information is still in tact?

Maybe it has to do with date formats / conversion issues? I tried changing my system locale that does seem to have an impact (I changed between UK and US). But the date is still incorrect.

Note that the correct Date Taken can always be found using Image Viewer, gThumb, and also under Windows Detailed File Properties

I hope this can be fixed, because, other than this issue, I love the software

Thanks
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

To solve the problem the first step is to analyse the metadata in the problematic files.

Run this command on one of the problematic files and copy and paste the output here:

exiv2 -P E your_photo.jpg | grep Date

In that command change "your_photo.jpg" to the file you want to analyse.
