Bug Description
It'd be great if RPD could integrate with desktop environments (such as KDE) to provide the following features:
* Offer itself up as an optional "action" for what do to with a newly plugged in device
* Provide notifications and progress status to the DE

Have you tried version 0.4.7? A user submitted a KDE Solid action which
should do precisely that when a device is plugged in.
Rapid Photo Downloader should already be displaying notifications. If it
doesn't provide any then that means something is crashing in the
notifications subsystem and Rapid Photo Downloader is catching and
suppressing the error.
Rapid Photo Downloader doesn't yet provide any progress status to the
Desktop environment itself, as in terms of GTK at least that will require
some big changes to the code (namely a switch to new ways of coding for GTK
in python) .
