Thank you for your bug report. However you need to supply more details if
it is to be useful. What version of Rapid Photo Downloader, on what Linux
distribution, and most importantly, are you downloading from a card reader
or direct from the camera?

It happens when downloaded from an external hard drive, card reader or direct from the camera, happens in both DNG and NEF. running on 64 bit linux mint 14 cinnamon. using both the copy and move functions.

Please do two things:

1. Install 0.4.6 beta 1 and see if it's been resolved: http://damonlynch.net/rapid/ubuntu.html
2. Regardless of whether step 1 works or not, share with me 3 sample NEF files taken directly from the memory card of the camera. Transfer them to your computer using a memory card reader and don't open them in another software program. You can share them with me via Ubuntu One or Drop Box or some other file sharing service.

Thanks.

The update semi resolves the issue, linux mint now reads each files as a tiff due to the embedded tiff file, to keep them in NEF i have to manually rename them with the .NEF extnesion.

Thanks for sharing the sample files. I'm afraid however I don't know
precisely what problem you are currently experiencing with 0.4.6 beta 1.

Are you generating new file names as you download? If so, are you
forgetting to give them an extension? See
http://damonlynch.net/rapid/documentation/#renamefilename

I'm marking this bug as invalid, because it seems the bug reporter did not add a file extension in the file renaming configuration.
