Added assertion in revision 1328. Now, you get the following for that macro:
Unhandled exception
 Condition components:
   1. &who: define-record
   2. &message: "raw symbol encountered in output of macro"
   3. &syntax:
       form: (define-record testr (id name version))
       subform: id
