Bug Description
Please backport wpa 1.0-3ubuntu1 (main) from raring to precise, quantal.
Reason for the backport:
=======
There's a large delta between wpasupplicant 0.7 and wpasupplicant 1.0 in terms of wireless standard support with modern stations and access points. One specific example is 802.11 band steering which is very problematic on wpa 0.7 on Precise, but works well with wpa 1.0 rebuilt for precise.
Testing:
========
Mark off items in the checklist [X] as you test them, but please leave the checklist so that backporters can quickly evaluate the state of testing.
You can test-build the backport in your PPA with backportpackage:
$ backportpackage -u ppa:<lp username>/<ppa name> -s raring -d precise wpa
$ backportpackage -u ppa:<lp username>/<ppa name> -s raring -d quantal wpa
* precise:
[X] Package builds without modification
[ ] hostapd installs cleanly and runs
[X] wpagui installs cleanly and runs
[ ] wpasupplicant-udeb installs cleanly and runs
[X] wpasupplicant installs cleanly and runs
* quantal:
[X] Package builds without modification
[ ] hostapd installs cleanly and runs
[ ] wpagui installs cleanly and runs
[ ] wpasupplicant-udeb installs cleanly and runs
[ ] wpasupplicant installs cleanly and runs

Still testing. I have to free up a real laptop to do the rest.
