Bug Description

QtSixA is a software that allows to use PS3 Sixaxis/DualShock3 and Keypads in Linux and control the desktop using them.

This is a very recent software and it's not available in the official repos yet.

However, there's a PPA containing it:
https://launchpad.net/~falk-t-j/+archive/qtsixa

I already have that but thanks anyway.

This bug is about getting QtSixA in the official Ubuntu repos.
For the compilation I have a PPA.

Any more news about it getting added to the official repos?

Any chances?

maybe next year.
I need to cleanup the qtsixa code and do a new release, but I'm busy with other things right now.

Hi falk-t-j.

I'm aware you no longer support QtSixA, since now Linux have native support for PS3 & PS4 controllers. However, I have five reasons why I think you should resume the support:

1) Native support doesn't work properly yet:
Even though it should work out of the box, it doesn't, or at least I haven't be able to do it. When I have "luck", I can connect one controller. When I don't (most of the time) I can't connect anything. In addition, it's happened years since Linux "included" native support.

2) QtSixA still work on newer distros:
Using the repository for Ubuntu 15.04 (the last supported version of Ubuntu) I had been able to install and use QtSixA under Ubuntu 15.10/16.04 and Linux Mint 18. The only major issue I have found is when sixad runs at the boot, it doesn't work and I have to stop it and re-start it. So, with only enabling the repos for newer versions, it would be a great improvement.

3) I believe only small modifications are required:
Since QtSixA still works, it would require small modifications IMO, to just fix the start at boot or to disable that feature.

4) The community still wants to use QtSixA:
As you can see in ubuntuforums and in the following askubuntu questions, the community still tries to install and use QtSixA:
http://askubuntu.com/questions/694686/
http://askubuntu.com/questions/409761/

5) I could help you:
If you want me to, I could give you a hand with the repository compilation, or even with the code

I'm no longer interested on developing QtSixA.
If you are I'd be welcome to give the project to you (or anyone else who volunteers).
