I don't know the details of how SC works / gets the list of installable apps, but something in this equation probably matters:
- qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu is the package that ships ubuntu-sdk.desktop (name "Ubuntu SDK", executes qtcreator)
- qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu, even if it would be installable, would not pull all of the SDK in
- 'ubuntu-sdk' - the package that should be installed when a person searches and installs for SDK, is just a meta-package itself, and does not ship any .desktop file
