Bug Description

Hello!

When I open multiple tabs in qpdfview with large PDFs (a couple hundred pages), tab managing becomes extremely slow. Switching or closing tabs can take like 5 seconds. Is there any solution to this problem?
Thanks,
   Mate

Hello Mate,

thanks for taking the time to report this. I am not currently aware of such issues and have reports of people using the application with around 1000 open tabs without problems, but we did have two related issues:

* We hit a performance problem within Qt where restoring the expansion state of the outline tree items was extremely slow which happens on each tab switch. This was worked around in later version of qpdfview and is fixed upstream in later version of Qt as well. Is the slow down you experience related to the number of outline items of the documents?

* We used to update the SQLite database that is used to persistently store the open tabs on disk too often which would be visible by a large amount of disk activity during the slow down. This was fixed in qpdfview by only updating said database when actually necessary.

In both cases updating to the latest stable version from [1] should fix the problem.

If this does not help, knowing the specific version of qpdfview which you are using and having your configuration files (usually located at "~/.config/qpdfview") would probably help me to reproduce the issue. (You should probably have a look at those files removing sensitive information like recently opened paths before attaching them to this bug report.)

Best regards, Adam.

Marking as invalid since its probably a duplicate of one of the two mention older bug and we do not need really need to know which one.
