Bug Description

Hi guys,

Open a pdf file. Rotate it (counter or not)clockwise.
If you
- ctrl-o to open a new file, the rotation is kept ;
- ctrl-t to open a new file, the rotation is not kept ;
- close the rotated file, close qpdfview and open another file, the rotation is still there.

I'm not sure it's a feature and my point of view is that it is more interesting to keep the rotation attached to the file and have no rotation by default.

bye,

Hello Arnaud,

when you open a file several things influence how it is displayed:

* Whenever you change a setting like rotation, this is saved as a new default used to initialize new tabs.

* The document may request certain settings like a two-page layout (but rotation is not of them) which overrides the defaults.

* The per-file settings are loaded if available and override the previous two.

So from what you write, I think you have enable per-file settings? In that case you should have the last rotation for every file (i.e. path on your file system) that you have opened before remembered, but if you open a file for the first time, you will get the last rotation you set explicitly in any other view (i.e. the initialization default).

So qpdfview's policy is "settings attached to file with defaults inherited from last user interaction" instead of "settings attached to file with defaults fixed", which I do prefer personally even though I admit it takes a bit longer to explain. If the behaviour you observe does not fit that, you have probably found a bug in handling these different kinds of defaults and settings.

Best regards, Adam.
