Bug Description

Binary package hint: qjackctl

Ubuntu 8.04.1 (amd64)
qjackctl 0.3.2-1ubuntu1

Under the MIDI tab in the Connections window, MIDI-capable programs (like ZynAddSubFX, seq24, vkeybd, etc.) should appear. But both the "Readable" and "Writable" panes in the MIDI tab are blank. MIDI instruments do appear on the ALSA tab, and they can be connected there.

This is normal: QJackCtl supports 2 kinds of MIDI: native JACK MIDI and ALSA MIDI. The 'MIDI' tab is used for native JACK MIDI connections, the 'ALSA' tab is used for ALSA MIDI connections.

I added a feature request for better tab names upstream: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2906105&group_id=86211&atid=578829

Changed in qjackctl (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Wishlist
status: New → Triaged

The URL for the upstream SourceForge bug tracker is no longer valid. The current bug tracker (https://sourceforge.net/p/qjackctl/tickets/) has no bugs older than 2012. Therefore, marking the upstream task as incomplete.

Changed in qjackctl:
importance: Unknown → Undecided
status: Unknown → New
status: New → Incomplete
