That shouldn't be possible.. You were reinstalling this version?

ii makedev 2.3.1-77 creates device files in /dev

It contains /sbin/MAKEDEV.

Please Cc: the bug in your replies, so they go to the bug log and the
maintainer.

Please run, as root:

  rm /var/cache/apt/archives/makedev*
  apt-get --reinstall install makedev

Your original report said "it reboots immediately". Did you mean that
the computer reboots, and reloads the linux kernel and all?

Bdale:
makedev.postinst has set +e; is that what you intend? I would have
expected set -e.

Yes, I've reinstalled the 77 version, dpkg says:

iU makedev 2.3.1-77 creates device files in /dev

and /sbin/MAKEDEV doesn't exist

Tried, but it does exactly what I've already explained...

It reboots without any message or reboot process, when system restart grub and
kernel loading is really slowed.

I don't know what to make of this.

What is the result of `md5sum /var/cache/apt/archives/makedev*`?

Hmm. Maybe you could add "set -x" as the second line of
/var/lib/dpkg/info/makedev.postinst. And, since it reboots
immediately, add "exec 1>/home/stdout" and "exec 2>/home/stderr" as
lines 3 and 4. That will hopefully indicate which line causes the
reboot. Then, mail the contents of /home/std{out,err} to the bug.

I've attached stderr (stdout is empty). I've tried with "dpkg --configure -a"
with the patched postinst and this time it doesn't reboot! Remain the errors
of libraw1394-5 (caused by the missing /sbin/MAKEDEV).

I've attached stderr (stdout is empty). I've tried with "dpkg --configure -=
a"=20
with the patched postinst and this time it doesn't reboot! Remain the error=
s=20
of libraw1394-5 (caused by the missing /sbin/MAKEDEV).

Maybe it's totally wrong, but if I create a link in /sbin/ to /dev/MAKEDEV =
can=20
I resolve my problem?

I'm afraid that nobody seems to have any insights into this problem.
If you log in as root, can you cause makedev to be run? Is /sbin/ in
roots path? Try to play around and see if you can figure out what's
up .. /sbin/MAKEDEV has to exist, first.

Hmm. Maybe you can send the output of `df`.

I can't think of any way that you could have the makedev package installed and
not have the file /sbin/MAKEDEV. So, there there must be something really
strange about your system?
