HP mini100e no internal mic

HP mini 100e running Qimo 2.0 with all current updates.
Just cannot get the integrated mic to work and maybe a coincidence but the red mute speaker light is always on.

using snd-hda-intel

alsamixer shows no internal mic and it cannot be made to show it even when changing the model=xxxxxx
in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

Also the red speaker mute light is always on even though sound ouput works fine.
