You could import the torrent file and if the file is already there, qbittorrent will detect this and not re-download the file. What kind of import do you mean? Bypassing the initial check? That's not important in my opinion.

I agree with mpw, this feature is already there. Just move your torrent files from where the other torrent client stored your incomplete files to where qBittorrent stores them, then re-import the .torrent file into qBittorrent. qBittorrent will re-check the existing files and pick up where the other client left off. I know this works because I recently made the smart decision to switch to qBittorrent from Deluge and this is how I accomplished it.

This is not something which can be done automatically as different clients default to different locations for incomplete files, not to mention, in most clients, the user can choose something custom. There is not one other torrent client which does this automatically, and for good reason. Torrent clients cannot read your mind. They also can not scour the web looking for the .torrent file (public or private tracker) from an incomplete torrent which you started on some random torrent client.

Some tips which may be helpful in this situation.

1. Always store incomplete torrent files in the same location no matter which torrent client you use. (Suggestion ~/Downloads/TorrentIncompletes)

2. If your torrent client has the option to append something to the end of a torrent, such as with Transmission (Append ".part" to incomplete files' names", disable this feature.

3. Some clients have the ability to move your .torrent files to a specified folder. I recommend doing this. If your torrent client is set up to delete these files, then if you need to import the torrent to another client, you'll have to scour the web looking for the exact same .torrent file again. Instead, if your client supports this, move them to a good location (Suggestion ~/Downloads/TorrentFiles).

Hope this helps.
