Bug Description

Hi
As the title says, could we have a DL+UL speed graph I can understand that this will most likely be a low priority task and that's fine. It is quite superficial so there is no hurry or urgency for this perhaps no need at all but it would be nice to see the effects of optimising tuning UL and DL limiting. Thanks for your attention!

this can be done easily by use of qwt library, but it will add extra-dependency.

Yes, Santaris is using qwt.

This adds a new dependency but users will be able to disable this feature at compilation time.

I would like to hear comments about the progress. Do you plan to implement in the near future. I do not want to offend anyone, but more than a year has passed. Thank you very much for this wonderful program.
Sorry for my English (google translate)

Graph is about to release. There are some bugs to fix, but the feature is almost ready.I was really busy all that time and i have some really important deadlines at that time. This is why i haven't implement it yet.

My own opinion is that it is halfway through. Although the graph has been implemented (as santaris said), it is nowhere near providing enough functionality to be useful. The graph is definitely coming but I would not say it is "about to release". There is *still* a lot of work ahead.

The big delay is due to the fact that this is a low-priority feature (In my opinion) and it can introduce bugs / performance regressions while being useful to only a limited amount of users. It also brings an additional dependency (on qwt) my objectives were the reduce the number of dependencies.

I only agreed to include it because Santaris volunteered to implement it. However, I will carefully review the graph's quality before merging it into qBittorrent.

Will there be a way to disable this feature + dependency at build time using a configure option?

@leigh: Sure, this is one requirement I expressed to Santaris.

I get experience with qwt and now I understand that my suggestion to use qwt library is not really good solution. qwt itself is not so lightweight library (qwt 6 is 1.1 Mb large) and it's not so widespread... Also there are different versions of qwt in different distros.

Qwt is really powerful instrument for making almost any kind of plots. But it's not good solution for bittorent client.
I guess it should be possible to implement some really simple graph widget for representing speed data.

Anything happening with this feature?

I just switched from uTorrent and I miss the speed graph a lot.

It's very useful for looking at how things are going, trends in speed over a period of time, etc.

Is there any progress on this feature ?

"Almost ready" was four years ago.

qBT has good features, but the GUI is (IMHO) uncomfortable to use (especially with torrents that contains many files), and seriously lacking usefull informations.
Such as a bandwith graph, or for exampe other stats on what files/blocks are being DLed right now.

Have a look at Speedometer and other network monitoring tools mentioned here, for eg
http://www.binarytides.com/linux-commands-monitor-network/

It's a rather Windows-centric view to expect everthing in one apt, rather than using different apps for different jobs.

qBittorrent is fine as it is, and does not need to be bloated with unneccessary "features".
