Bug Description

I'm a Gentoo user, and the package fails to build with MAKEOPTS="--jobs --load=5". I am not able to reproduce this with a fixed number of parallel jobs, though.

I cannot reproduce on Mac OS. I frankly have no clue of what could be going on :(

I ran a loop with i going from 2 to 20, and successfully built it with MAKEOPTS="-j $i". I tried five more times with my default MAKEOPTS="--jobs --load 5", and it failed twice.
