i just apt autoremove on ubuntu and it somehow deleted most of my games , and it also created a bunch of empty directories (use menu editor to see them) in my menu, i them had the same problem as you so i deleted those useless dirs(can add games to those directories, dont know why) and everything was ok again

Changed in gnomenu:
status: New → Won't Fix
status: Won't Fix → Invalid

This bug occurs by removing the Gnome Games Meta Package. It only affects GnoMenu as other menus do not have this error if you remove the meta package.

yes, but there appears to be a error in ubuntu because it creates invalid entrys in the menu (check you menu editor inside games ), this is not related to GnoMenu because it uses standard xdg menu implementation http://www.rkblog.rk.edu.pl/w/p/pyxdg-freedesktoporg-specifications-support/

this doesnt affect menus apps that use gmenu instead of xdg, however since gmenu is gnome related im not shure if i should change to gmenu, it may cause xfce incompatibility

a workarround may be to remove the invalid entrys, however i will investigate this further

it's related to python-xdg and not python-xdgapp. xdgapp is an abstraction class for python applications to quickly access xdg in context of their app's name. There isn't a project in launchpad for python-xdg so you might want to attach this to ubuntu or to xdg-utils.
