create service --name option doesn't name service

using openstack 5.8.0 (installed as python3-openstackclient on Ubuntu 22.04 with keystone installed on a controller node (following installation documentation for Yoga) with MariaDB Server Version 10.6.7-MariaDB-2ubuntu1.1 Ubuntu 22.04 everything seems to work fine except for the following:

I try to create a service at the command line (just like in the documentation) using the --name option to name the new service and the resulting service's "name" field shows up as blank instead of the name entered with the --name option. This was true when proceeding in the documentation to create the new service for other openstack services such as Glance, Placement etc.
