blueman-manager successfully pairs and connects to the Bose SL III in both bionic and in focal. in bionic, the Bose SL III then immediately shows up in pavucontrol. in focal, it remains absent.

The success in ubuntu but failure in lubuntu can be reproduced by merely booting the above live ISOs and installing blueman-manager into the live systems.
i'm guessing this is a dependency issue that only manifests in lubuntu.
in lubuntu the Bose SLIII appears in blueman-manager in response to adapter search, and when i rightclick onit and click pair, the 3 bar graphs appear momentarily, then disappear again, and thereafter "pair" is greyed out on the rightclick menu. i guess that means it paired properly. Then when i rightclick and choose connect, blueman-manager says "Connection Failed: Resource temporarily unavailable", and the SLIII fails to appear in pavucontrol.
