Navigating by arrows doesn't update preview pane

Bug Description

Once I click on an email the contents of the email is displayed in the preview pane. If, at that point, I use the arrow keys to navigate the emails in my Inbox, the emails become highlighted but their contents aren't shown in the preview pane. I believe the best behavior would be to have a slight delay, just in case they are arrowing past it, but if a highlight email stays highlighted for a short period of time the contents should be shown in the preview pane without having to click on it.

I think unless you are looking at new mail it is most likely that you don't want to see the selected message right away. And I am usually doubtful of the read status changing automatically, if only because I opened the folder and didn't look at it right away.

eh, I think I agree with the OP here, Christian.

Maybe adding a short timeout to the read status to avoid flipping the status unintentionally while browsing?

If there were a timeout were to start once the up or down arrow is released, how long would it wait? If we say for example 3 seconds, hitting Return is probably more useful than selecting it and waiting for 2 seconds. Or would the message be opened earlier than the status changes?

The message should be opened immediately, just the status change should be on a timeout.
