i rather often paste poldek -u something -t output, and have to trim out the "retrieving messages".

so could the retrieving/loading messages be:
a) use some progressbar that prints to same line eventually resulting 1 line of log for copy paste
b) disabled by default, that can be enabled with -v option

example:

# poldek --up -u php53-common -t --ignore=*php4* --ignore=*php52*

i vote for b) as there hasn't been activity in ticket and it seems trivial to implement
