Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. It surely will benefit users to sync their podcasts over to podbird. I foresee two issues worth fixing first which are,
- Switch to C++ backend for making https requests for searching and adding podcasts. At the moment it is done using JS which some servers do not like and results in bug 1414453 and bug 1426700.
- Provide GPodder.net an an alternative search provider (bug 1440071)
