Missing metadata in wavpack files

Bug Description

I recently migrated from a Linux machine to a Mac. Rather than re-encode all of my Ogg Vorbis and Wavpack music into iTunes format, I decided to try Play. When importing my music into Play, although all of the metadata from the Ogg files loads perfectly, no metadata was found for a single wavpack file.

The Wavpack files were created using Banshee for Linux (Ubuntu version), lossless format. They definitely contain metadata, as they can be read perfectly by SoundConverter for Linux. I can provide a sample file if needed.

I've looked at the file you sent, and it appears to contain an APEv2 tag at the beginning of the file. WavPack (as far as I know) requires the APE tag to be at the end of the file. I tested your file using the latest version of the official WavPack tools (4.60.1) and wvunpack could not read the tags in the file.

I'll look into this further, but it appears that the files you have are a bit nonstandard.
