Bug Description

Due to the changes outlined here - http://ubuntu.5.x6.nabble.com/Future-of-Appmenu-Outside-Unity-td5033699.html - Plasma Menu Bar is no longer importing menus from Gtk (2 and 3) programs. After a brief discussion with a developer in #ubuntu-devel, I got the impression that porting this widget to the new ABI would be a relatively trivial task. Unfortunately, I don't know how to code. :(

I would consider this as a feature request. I also don't have coding skills, but I've heard about the GMenu specification which could replace libdbusmenu/appmenu at least for Gtk3 apps. Any ideas how to implement it?

in Kubuntu 14.04 GTK-3/2 menus is also not displayed. To implement this, you need only recompile the applet so that it is linked with GTK appmenu. I tried to compile it as a gentoo and got a positive result.

The bug is in KDE kded modules, it should be ported to qmenumodel:

https://launchpad.net/qmenumodel

First part of the works should be porting creating a qt plugin exporting menubar over qmenumodel.
