Reproduce:
When you try to open trash from Plank docklet Thunar will not do anything

solved
check in $HOME/.config/mimeapps.list file under [Added Associations] section that there are these lines:

inode/directory=xfce4-file-manager.desktop;
x-scheme-handler/trash=xfce4-file-manager.desktop;
