Bug Description

When hovering over app icons in the Dock (Plank), the app names that appear in darkened panels will sometimes "stick" over certain apps, producing odd extension/shortening for different names showing in the wrong position.

This is better seen than described. http://imgur.com/a/O52Eu

Note: While both those screenshots show the Music panel sticking, it does occur on other apps.

I cannot seem to find a reliable way to reproduce this bug.

The same or similar problem. Clicking the icon launches the application named in the hover text, not the one that the icon is for. There is also an incorrect gap in the icons. This is intermittent and as you logout they rearrange themselves correctly.

@ChrisofBristol: what you describe is an entirely different bug. Please file a *new* bug report on it.

I am going to test to see if I can reproduce this still later today. It is possible it has been fixed.

I can confirm I can still (unreliably) reproduce the original bug.

I have experienced this when firefox-trunk was going crazy using 100% of a
CPU, so maybe it's reproducible when the system is stressed

Hm, maybe. I run Genymotion to emulate Android, plus some Virtualboxes for testing. I will try the next time I spin one up.

Just testing out the Freya Beta1 and this can quite easily be reproduced by hovering relatively fast right or left over 2 or more icons with the mouse cursor. It happens almost every time here then. Plain install in Virtualbox.

Just a quick clarification with a picture of the bug. It happens when the mouse pointer is hovering over one icon in the dock and moves quickly to another icon while passing over one or several other icons.

It is very easy to see this bug running in Virtualbox, due to low graphics performance I guess. I have not been able to see this when running natively.

I believe this should be no issue anymore, while we decided to delay showing the hover some more.

no longer affects: pantheon-dock
