Bug Description

I've taken more than 20 hours to finished installation pipelight on arch through your repo, it was extremely slow.
But after that, I could not install npactivex properly. Although in konsole it was reported such plugin unlocked and enabled successfully, if I opened google-chrome or firefox using command, it reported that "Downloading of wine-npactivex-installer failed multiple times". I tried many times, and also changed different internet connections and tried some http_proxys, which were useless.
Besides such plugin, other plugins like x64-flash and all silverlights are all correct.

Hi,

I cannot confirm the speed problems you experienced, from over here (germany) the download speed of all files is very well. The number of requests is also far below the server capacity limits, so its probably a problem with your network connection. Do you also experience similar problems with specific other servers? (You could try to use some of these files for testing purposes: http://www.speedtest.qsc.de/ ).

Concerning npactivex: I assume you've installed the latest versions (0.2.6), if not please update your installation. I have just checked that for me the download of this plugin works well, and the checksum is also still valid.

Can you please try to download the corresponding file manually?

wget -O /tmp/pipelight-wine-npactivex-installer.zip https://np-activex.googlecode.com/files/extension_1_5_0_7.crx

And afterwards calculate the checksum of it?

sha256sum /tmp/pipelight-wine-npactivex-installer.zip

I get the following checksum (which also matches the expected result):

12ba6c79079f53172ca897f717911c2613219236dca5ae58662d41636490e7a9

If you're able to download this file somewhere else: Just save it as "pipelight-wine-npactivex-installer.zip" in "/tmp", then Pipelight should automatically use it instead of downloading the file (if the checksum matches).

Regards,
Sebastian

Thanks, Sebastian. I'm in China, I have removed all changes and tried again. The installation is much better today, it seems that might be network problem. I still can't install the npactivex plugin through the normal process, but I can download such crx file correctly, and if I ran the command you posted first, then reinstall the plugin, it's very successful. I can use such plugin now, and thanks for your help.

Hi,

since we can not reproduce the problem and it is most likely related to you network (setup), I close this bug as invalid.
