Bug Description

There is a problem that the Silverlight individualization file gets corrupted when using BT Sport, to get it working again I need to type the following command:

rm -rf "$HOME/.wine-pipelight/drive_c/users/Public/Application Data/Microsoft/PlayReady"
 Thanks for the support

I also had problems when pipelight updated, ( running Linux Mint 13 64 bit) I resolved the problem by deleting the .wine-pipelight folder, then adding the original pipelight file from /usr/share/pipelight to .config. I then disabled Silverlight 5.1 and enabled Silverlight 5.0. Bt Sport then worked, but I needed to remove the .wine-pipelight folder after each use of the BT Sport website.

Original pipelight file attached.

Hi,

thanks for reporting this bug. We've already heard from other people who experienced the same problem on BT Sport, that DRM files get corrupted after each time visiting the website - I assume that there is still some function in wine missing.

It would really be useful to get the debug output from the terminal. Just close all your browsers, and then start it from a terminal with (for example):

rm -rf "$HOME/.wine-pipelight/drive_c/users/Public/Application Data/Microsoft/PlayReady"
firefox &> ~/pipelight1.log

after visiting BT Sport close your browser. Then start it again with:

firefox &> ~/pipelight2.log
(without clearing the DRM files)

visit again BT Sport and close the browser. Please upload both files here on the bug tracker, probably one of them contains a hint whats going wrong.

@John: Which pipelight version do you use? New versions of pipelight don't use a file called "pipelight" anymore, so it should have no effect. I assume that deleting the .wine-pipelight folder was the only required step.

Hi Sebastian
I use 0.2.1 version. You are right about the pipelight file. I have deleted it from .config and /usr/share/pipelight. and pipelight still functions. The only change I notice is that that Wine prefix and Silverlight load as soon as I open the browser, prevoiusly they loaded when I opened the BT Sport page. If I change streams Silverlight plug-in crashes with a message to reload the page.
If I do not delete the pipelight folder after each use I get Bt Errors 6025 and VC019 when I try to use BT Sport. The selected stream will not open.

Hi Sebastian
I have used your terminal commands to obtain log files, and additionally created a 3rd log file which follows the process i use to access BT Sport. The logs are attached. Good Luck

Hi,

thanks for providing the log files, I'll take a closer look at all the
details later, but I spotted immediately one thing which shouldn't be there.

I am not sure if its related to the BT Sports problem itself, but these
messages are causing the plugin crash:

[PIPELIGHT:LIN:silverlight5.0] basicplugin.c:757:dispatcher(): forgot
to set killObject?
[PIPELIGHT:WIN:silverlight5.0] ../common/common.c:256:readCommands():
unable to receive data.

These messages are caused by pipelight internal consistency checks, to
ensure that everything works properly (and the linux and windows side are
synchronized for example). We've really done a lot of testing, and I would
assume that Pipelight itself doesn't contain any major flaws anymore - but
these messages could mean that Silverlight corrupts the memory somewhere or
BTSports uses some code which isn't yet tested that well.

I assume that you're already using an up-to-date browser version. If not,
please try to update your browser and check if these error messages still
occur.

Otherwise: Which version of pipelight do you have installed exactly? Can
you please check (for example with):
dpkg --list | grep pipelight

with this information we'll be able to build you a pipelight version with
additional debug output enabled, and send it to you for additional testing.

Sebastian

Hi
Today I updated to version 0.2.2, but the same situation prevails, that is I need to delete the .wine-pipelight folder after each use of Bt Sport.
For your information I attach the instructions I copied from the BT Sport Forum.
cheers

Hi,

concerning the installation instructions: they seem to be pretty outdated. If you've an account there, you can probably write an updated version (some of the files mentioned there for example don't even exist anymore). Switching to Silverlight5.0 also doesn't require any changes to config files anymore, but instead just:
sudo pipelight-plugin --disable silverlight5.1 --enable silverlight5.0

You can find the latest version of the installation instructions always on the following page:
http://fds-team.de/cms/pipelight-installation.html

Concerning the BTSports issue: I've just compiled a pipelight version with debug output. Just install the following *.deb package with:
sudo dpkg -i pipelight-multi_0.2.2_amd64_debug.deb

and then repeat the steps above to get the debug output. It will not output a lot of additional information (which will probably slow down the browser a bit), so use it only for testing.

After you've finished testing, just return to the original version by running:
sudo apt-get remove pipelight pipelight-multi
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pipelight pipelight-multi

Hi, Thanks again for the support. The output for

dpkg --list | grep pipelight

in my pc is the following:

ii pipelight 0.2.1~ubuntu12.04.1 allows usage of Silverlight through Wine
ii pipelight-multi 0.2.1~ubuntu12.04.1 allows usage of Windows NPAPI plugins through Wine

not clear to me what it means.
Anyway Seb do you confirm that your last release fix it? Sorry about that I'm not in that problem I'd like just to watch football if it can be useful I'll try to update and I'll send you the log.
Thanks
G.

Hi,

did you run the command after downloading the attached *.deb file? Or probably run it in a wrong directory?

Hi Sebastian
I have discovered that if I delete only the file mspr.hds from .wine-pipelight, after each use of BT Sport, then BT Sport runs OK.
I have trawled the BT Sport forums and I am in the same position as Windows and Mac users, who apparently have the same problems that I experience on Linux, and also are advised by BT to delete the file mspr.hds
I can only conclude that Pipeline is not the problem. The combination of Silverlight and BT software appears to be the fly in the ointment.
This thoery is supported by the fact that the BT Sport Android app, which does not use Silverlight, works perfectly on my Kindle Fire, despite BT telling me that their app is not supported for the Kindle Fire! Go figure!!
Thanks for your time and trouble on this issue.
