Bug Description
The Pinta binary does not seem to tell the OS what file types it can open. If I try to "Open with..." and leave "Recommended applications" selected, Pinta is always grayed out when I'm trying to open an image file. I've tried to open PNGs, JPEGs, and TIFFs this way and Pinta never shows up as an option.
In addition, if I select "all applications" and find the Pinta application, it just launches to a new, empty image. If Pinta is already open, it doesn't load the new image either and I have to go into the file:open dialog.
I also can't drag-and-drop an image into an opened Pinta and have it come up.
Also, it would be nice if you could make it possible for Pinta to open Gimp .XCF files and integrate UFRaw support for the various raw formats.
Another nice touch would be to have Pinta remember what directory I was in the last time I tried to open a file rather than reseting to the file system top every time.

I think the work from bug #772195 should also now allow files to be opened from Finder
