Bug Description

I have downloaded Pinta 2.2-dev latest from master repository https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/actions/runs/7243481908/artifacts/1120514223 on Ubuntu 23.10.

Pinta always starts in Dark mode and does not respect Ubuntu's Dark Style (Dark or Light). I changed right top in Ubuntu to Dark mode and it stays in dark. Unchecked, so light should be, other apps gets light outfit, but Pinta still has dark. It looks like always dark in Pinta.

See attachment. I clicked on top-right and it is visible dark mode is disabled, but in background is Pinta program with dark mode enabled.

This changed with https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/pull/613 where I changed the default to "prefer dark", but it seems like Ubuntu's light theme doesn't indicate that the system wants to force a light color scheme.
I've reverted that back to the default with https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/commit/347919d57c2537e234308996dab3d76ec450f0d6

There is also now a Color Scheme option in the View menu to explicitly pick a dark or light theme

Changed in pinta:
milestone: none → 2.2
status: New → Fix Committed
