Image tab "x" on changes does not change to dot to indicate the change (regression)

Bug Description
In Pinta 1.7 when some change appears the "x" button on image tab gets changes to dot. This icon indicates file has changed since last save.
In Pinta 1.8-dev on Ubuntu 20.04:

on canvas change and "x" is still displayed, so no indicator file has changed appears.
