I don't use XFCE, but in order to developers look into this problem you would most probably would need to be more specific. Is this Pinta problem (pinta developers will try to fix it) or XFCE running Pinta (XFCE distribution package maintainer should look into it)? Can you post some print-screen of how it is currently displayed and little bit explain how it should look like or even better add some other working fine application print-screen for comparison.

What is distribution name/version you are using Pinta on XFCE?
How did you install Pinta:
a) official distribution version from package manager
b) PPA (if Ubuntu),
c) http://forge.pinta-project.com/ "zip" file,
c) compiled source code,
d) something else

Please also provide what is your Pinta version. You can get this info from Help | About dialog.

XFCE 4.11 Linux Mint 17.1
Pinta from ppa ver 1.6
The same happens to Baobab, Gnome-disks and some other apps.

If this issue is occurring with other applications then it may be an issue in XFCE

XFCE may not support parsing some directories for icons, but if Pinta icon will be in that (obselete?) directory - bug will be fixed.

This sounds like an issue with XFCE since Pinta's icon is installed to the standard XDG directory
