cannot input chinese characters when adding text

When adding text to the picture, only English letters can be input. Input method is not available and does not pop up.
If try to paste Chinese from clipboard, it shows 'Image cannot be pasted \n The clipboard does not contain an image.'

1. What is your Pinta version (menu Help / About)?
2. What is your operating system (Windows, Linux, OSX) and version (Windows Vista, Windows 7,... Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu 14.04 etc)?

If you are not using the latest version currently 1.5, then I suggest to try 1.5 out first and report back if problem still persists. You can download Pinta 1.5 from https://github.com/PintaProject/Pinta/releases/tag/1.5 (main website www.pinta-project.com is outdated because of some problem, see: https://groups.google.com/forum/?hl=en#!topic/pinta/UQw55VfFXqM for details). If you are using Ubuntu, then I suggest to add Pinta stable PPA - see instructions http://pinta-project.com/pinta/HowTo.Installing-Pinta.ashx

I am using ubuntu 14.04.

When updated to Pinta 1.5, I found that pasting Chinese text from clipboard was OK. But still cannot input directly.
My input method is fcitx. I don't know if other input methods work properly.

I can't input Chinese in 'Text' input box, and IME's status changed into English, and I' cant switch it into Chinese with shortcut key.In fact, it seems that I can't active IME with keyboard when pinta's text input box is focused.
My IME's configure is 'share status between with different programs', when i editing in gedit, i can input cheinese, and IME's status is Chinese, but when i changed focus into pinta's text input box, the IME's status will auto switched into English.
So, I could only copy Chinese content from gedit and paste it into pinta's text input.

Another bug is that I can't select text in pinta's text input with mouse, but I can select them with keyboard using 'Ctrl/Shift + Left/Right' and 'Ctrl + A'.

Explain:
    OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
    OS Architecture: x64
    Pinta Version: 1.6
    IME: Fcitx

There where so many changes/fixes and so many Mono and Gtk# upgrades that this may be fixed.

I found out it that in TextTool, it will grab focus on cavas, which is not right.
It needs to focus on the ImmContext.
I have fixed it and tested well by myself, but how can I commit it?
I have emailed to Tianhu Zhang, hoping him to email back.
