Bug Description

Pinta master on Windows XP:
1. New image and problem appears. Some options from toolbar and menu options are enabled by default despite they have zero effect like:

Tools from toolbar:
- Cut,
- Copy,
- Crop to Selection,
- Deselect All

Menu options:
- Cut,
- Copy,
- Copy Merged,
- Deselect Selection,
- Invert Selection.

2. If you do e.g. print screen and select Edit | Paste into New Image several options from tools and menu disappear (this is OK, because they have no meaning).

Not really a high priority, since it doesn't seem like any crashes can be caused by this.

Note that Cut, Copy, and Copy Merged do have an effect even without an active selection. They Cut or Copy the entire image.

Jonathan, what do you want to say that:
A. This is bug Cut, Copy ... should not be displayed.
or
B. This works as designed.

It seems, that in the current version of Pinta these options from toolbar and menu are disabled by default. Cut and Copy are enabled and perform what they supposed to. I am not sure about Copy Merged, though. It still copies, but looks a bit redundant for me.
Should Copy Merged be disabled, or maybe this bug report can be closed?

I think this can be closed. I agree that Copy Merged is a bit redundant when there's only one layer, but I think it's reasonable to keep it enabled so that users can always use the same shortcut to copy the whole image, without having to think about the number of layers.

Confirmed that the various selection-related tools mentioned in the bug report are correctly disabled now. The cut, copy etc tools should be enabled since they apply to the whole layer if there is no selection.
