I suggest that since there is Individual Screenlets project on Launchpad now (https://launchpad.net/indiv-screenlets), which hosts PidginScreenlet as well as lot of others and gives quite a many benefits to developers (http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/Documentation#Why_should_I_add_my_Screenlet_to_individual_Screenlets_project), you may want to update the code in the Individual Screenlets project instead of updating it in a separate project. The current version of Pidgin screenlet in Individual Screenlets project (http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indiv-screenlets-dev/indiv-screenlets/trunk/files/head:/src/Pidgin/) is 0.3.5 and the code includes possibility to translate on https://translations.launchpad.net/indiv-screenlets/trunk/+pots/pidgin-screenlet (as you see there are already couple of translations available).
