Bug Description
Hi, I like where you're going with picty :)
I'm testing it on ubuntu 12.10 (installed from repo) and on debian wheezy (branched with bzr).
My collections and my tag categorizations don't seem to be saved between sessions. I need to reopen collections every time I start picty. And when I open a collection of photos which I have previously tagged, all the tags are under 'uncategorized' though I had organized them into categories previously.
I see that everything is under heavy development but wanted to mention this in case it's useful.
ps. at first I couldn't run picty because of an UnboundLocalError. I know very little of python or programming but was able to get picty to run by adding 'global' before the source variable at line 115 in mapui.py.

status: | New → Incomplete |
Sorry for not seeing this bug a long time ago (I failed to correctly configure email notifications). I don't think that I have changed anything recently that would fix your issue and I certainly haven't encountered anything this issue recently.
For now, I am going to mark this bug as incomplete because I need a little more info from you to figure it. Try running picty from the command line and send me a copy of the output (sanitize any info that's sensitive first). Most importantly, look for error messages in the command line output.
Another thing to try would be to delete
~/.config/picty
(make a backup first!)
and if that doesn't help, also remove share/picty
~/.local/

I think this was fixed a while back.
