The "Reverse the order that images appear in" item doesn't show its state

Bug Description

User can't visually know if the "Reverse the order that images appear in" option has been activated or not since the icon remains the same after clicking on it. Maybe the arrow icon should be inverted once user has clicked on it, or the icon should provide a special effect like a phushed button or something else ?

I tried turning the tool button into a tool toggle button, but it doesn't have any effect. This is probably because I'm using deprecated toolbar features. The new toolbar doesn't seem to support arbitrary widgets, so I may replace the toolbar with a hbox, which will also resolve this bug.

using a column header at the top of the thumbnails pane to sort thumbnails should solve that bug (although i don't know if it's technically possible since the thumbnails pane isn't really a column)

it takes some space but looks very intuitive to me (far more contextual than the current toolbar item)

or make a drop-down List for the order option (Order : normal/reverse)
there would 2 drop-down Lists in toolbar side by side :
Sort by: [Relevance v] Order: [Reverse v]

Finally a drop-down List doesn't seem to be a good idea.
pro : it's consistent with the "Sort by:" widget
cons : we're not supposed to use a drop-down List for only 2 entries

A toggle button (maybe with a label - i.e. "reverse order" - and no icon since the metaphor is not obvious * ) or the above suggestion (c#2) could work from a design perspective.

I would say that turning the current icon into a toggle button with label only could work best

* as suggested for the sidepane button in Bug #434364
