Photo is very dark (unlike preview)

Bug Description

When I take a photo, the photo in the preview pane looks fine, but when it takes it, it's an odd dark green colour (see attachment). Taking photos with cheese directly does not have this effect.

I have an Acer Aspire One D260 netbook running Ubuntu 10.10

I believe this is linked to this bug, while not being exactly the same:

The webcam needs to be given time to warm up.

Hi Joel,

Thanks for your reply. In this case I don't believe that it's to do with the camera needing to warm up. I've added another attachment showing the difference between preview/photo taken in Cheese and then preview/photo taken in PhotoStory directly afterwards.

If there are any tests/output you would like me to run/post, I'd be happy to do so :)

I think it IS to do with the camera warming up, as you can see the
feed is that colour very quickly before changing to the correct hue,
while the camera takes the first frame. I assume Cheese has some kind
of failsafe in place to catch this but I'm finding the source code
rather difficult to trawl through. Rest assured we're working at it.

I seem to be a bit late to the party, but I also have this problem. I have a Dell mini 10v running 10.10, which has an indicator LED next to the webcam to show when it is being used. this comes on when I open the program but when Photostory takes the picture (once the countdown has finished, that is) the LED goes off, then on again, then off, then finally on at which point it displays the photo which is either very dark or just very dark green. I assume that it is taking the picture in the middle bit of the webcam being on, but that this is not long enough for the webcam to 'warm up', hence it being very dark.
