Bug Description

MySQL changed default checksum algorithm to crc32 in 5.7. buf_page_is_corrupted trying different checksums starting with default. In xtrabackup 2.4 default is INNODB which makes xtrabackup to perform extra checksum calculations which are not needed. xtrabackup must choose default algorithm based on server version.
