Bug Description

I used pt-online-schema-change recently and came across an issue. The issue was it was unable to detect slaves on my RDS instance.

Method

pt-online-schema-change D=database,t=table,h=rds.host.com,u=masood --password=somepass --alter="add index someindex (user, available, date)" --recursion-method hosts --execute

I tried with processlist instead of hosts but it just simply displayed message unable to connect to host and moved on with the schema change above.

Though the main goal of schema change was accomplished but slave discovery still remains under question.

Version

2.2.16

OS

Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS

Can you explain is this a bug or this was because pt-online-schema change do not detect slaves when used on RDS MYSQL 5.6

Thanks
