I should also note that the issue appears to be known at MySQL, though it's not clear if the patch applies to MySQL 5.5 as well:

The fix is to avoid building crypto.cpp in mysql/extra/yassl/taocrypt/src/Makefile.am

So long as the upstream compat libraries were built correctly (without crypto.cpp), Percona can package them and the problems with Postfix/PHP/etc should go away.
