Bug Description
The documentation for the syslog option can lead one to believe that this belongs in the [client] section of the my.cnf (it's listed under 'Client Variables'), while in fact this option only applies to the mysql client binary, and should therefore go in the [mysql] section.
If included in the [client] section, it will prevent other clients from running, including mysqlbinlog, and mysqladmin. The latter is specially problematic as it is invoked by pt-stalk during its data collection phase.
