minimum disk space is too large, even for Minimum Insatallation

Bug Description

The advertised minimum disk space for peppermint is anywhere between 3.2GB to 4.5GB.

In practice, version Peppermint-9-20181222-amd64.iso reports (and enforces) a minimum of 5.8 GB.

What I did:

1) disabled check for minimum disk size, by editing .../ubiquity/ubiquity/misc.py, and changing min_disk_size = 1 (one byte)

2) selected "Minimum Insatallation"

then

Ubi-partman crashed. I resumed anyway.

the installer failed later on partitioning, as if the partitioning is predefined for arbitrary minimum size or something.

BTW: I (re)tried the process, and got stuck on "network time server". Not sure what's going on there...

1) What's the minimum disk size required for "Minimum Installation" ?
2) was is tested or just assumed?
3) can it be really 3gb?

I experienced the above bug with a disk size of 4.5GB, inside virtualbox.

I say it's a bug , because Peppermint's website claim the minimum is 3.8 GB (or 4GB accoring to external sources).

I'm afraid you're right, the minimum disk space requirement information hasn't been updated on our website for some time, thanks for pointing it out and I'll look into posting the correct details there soon.

(I wonder out loud why not distribute lubuntu with just a graphical package manager (and a console), and let user choose ... whatever.

What's the point of claiming to be lightweight if the distro is bloat with 5GB of random stuff?

Ahh... My hopes of getting a 3gb desktop VM are gone with the fog
