Bug Description

peppermint 6 installation crash EeePC 701

Asus EeePC 701
1 GB RAM
4 GB SSD
900 MHz cpu

The EeePC boots to the peppermint menu but...
If I choose any item it freezes.
Same happens with a CD.

I have tried 2 usb sticks, same.
I have booted other computers from either usb stick.

I use TAB to edit the options to removed quiet and splash.
Then! I saw the message about using 'forcepae'.
Ah ha! The info about peppermint said i386, I assumed non-PAE.
I tried forcepae, then the EeePC boots to the peppermint desktop.
peppermint functions great from the usb stick.

Please mention 'forcepae' on the install page.

The peppermint installation gets to:

'checking for packages to install'

and then crashes, with a dialog:

you will be taken to an 'integrated bug report tool' Which never happens,
I am returned to the desktop and peppermint is still functional.

Any thoughts?

My thoughts are, you don't have the right hardware to run that distro.
My daughter has an eeePC 1000he, which you will concede, is more powerful than the 700 series, and version 6 is very sluggish on that. IMO you shouldn't be running anything beyond version 5.
Ideally, for having snappy performance with an eeepc700, you would want something more like Slitaz.
